Madbunny was founded in 2024 by Korean American designer Gia Kim, who hand-crafted the first Madbunny collectible figures in her small Detroit art studio.

The character was born from a self-reflective, doodle-like sketch of a spiky bunny, a playful interpretation of how friends and family often described her: cute, curious, and soft on one side, yet bold, wild, and unapologetically fierce on the other. Embracing these seemingly opposite traits, Madbunny became a symbol of self-exploration, versatility, and fearless self-expression.

Madbunny made its debut at a Detroit art fair with a limited collection of collectible figures that quickly sold out. Since 2026, the brand has expanded into apparel, accessories, and fine art collaborations, bringing the character’s multidimensional spirit into new forms and creative disciplines.
